PIOL, presbyopic intra ocular lens
These are bifocal implants. They are used in cataract surgery. P-IOLs are designed to provide far, intermediate and near focus after cataract surgery. Unlike a monofocal implant, which gives only one focus distance, the P-IOLs provide the more natural range of vision. These implants are safe as ordinary cataract implants and are designed to last a lifetime.
The best candidates have cataract or are over age 45 with a desire to reduce the need for glasses.
